We disliked these sheets so much that I feel that the only efficient way to describe them is in list form. We have returned them.1) Sheets are poorly sewn - corners and edges are finished with a single serged line of stitching - one corner ripped about an inch the first time we put the fitted sheet on our not-especially-deep mattress. Along the pillowcases and fitted sheet, the line of stitching where the edges are turned under is finished with another single line of stitching that every few inches or so overlaps another line of stitching... IE like they couldn't sew one long line but rather sewed lines 6" at a time - causing a stitch line that wasn't straight or beautiful.2) 800 Thread count = 800 Scams - There is simply no way these are 800 TC. EVEN IF they are 100 single yarn thickness they are not anywhere near dense enough to be this thread count. My fiancee went to design school where thread counting by hand and magnifying glass was taught - it was immediately noticeable without an official count that these were not 800.3) Whomever says these sheets are "thick" have not had thick sheets. Yes, they are thicker than sheets one might find on a military base, in a campground, or in a walmart, but my other set of sheets are at least 4x as thick, and are only of slightly higher thread count. These are as thin as they get, folks. The "thickness" of the sheets can't be measured where they are turned over and sewn at the top of the flat sheet...4) Sateen weave may not be Sateen - this one is tricker. A sateen weave is a weave that weaves the thread 4 over and 1 under - exposing more of the raw thread to one side of the sheet- giving the "lusterous" and somewhat shiny feel to sateen. This means that on any sateen sheet one side of the sheet will feel softer than the other - that's the side you put to your skin. In saying this, a different tooth to one side of the sheet is forgivable for sateen. HOWEVER these sheets are extreme - which tells me the cotton quality is low. One side of the sheet is somewhat soft (not extremely soft) and the other side is, without exaggeration, like a fine grit sandpaper. If you slept on the wrong side of the sheet for more than a month, I wouldn't be surprised if you magically had no more callouses on your feet - so maybe there is actually a use for these.SO - all in all - if you want these sheets badly, find your way to a TJ MAXX, buy the cheapest sheets there (for no more than 20$ for a set) and save yourself 80.00 and a headache.I have been shopping for a summer sheet set for my queen size bed for a few weeks now. I've read many, many reviews of various ones here on Amazon as well as at other stores. I've had my wonderful Pinzon 190-Gram Velvet Flannel sheets on the bed during the colder months but, since it's nearly June, am (grudgingly) ready to switch to a lighter summer set. I just received these today and they seem great, a nice weight and soft and smooth to the touch. I checked them over first to make certain there were no flaws and put them in the washer as directed. After drying, they did not disappoint. They came out with very few wrinkles (just the hem on the pillowcases, really) and seem as nice as before. I have not slept on them yet but will update after I do. Since there were no reviews yet, I thought I'd share my first impression. I'm expecting these sheets to wear well and be quite comfortable for many years. They do have nice deep pockets, measuring a 14 inch seam in the corners and elastic all around.Edit- 7-5-11After sleeping on these for a few weeks, I'm even more pleased. I'm actually considering them for a king bed in another bedroom, as it can be frustrating to try to determine how well sheets will fit, feel, and wear through the online reviews. Everyone seems to have different tastes and expectations, myself included. Of these sheets, I especially like the substantial weight and crisp, smooth feel, (not to imply that they are uncomfortably so). They are just made well of a quality fabric. I've not seen any pilling so far. From my experience up to now, I highly recommend these.4-6-2012- I just noticed that another reviewer mentioned a problem with pilling. I have not seen any in either of my 2 sheet sets and we've used them quite consistently in the past year. I purchased the Ivory in both King and Queen sizes, in case that makes a difference. I wash them in warm or cold water and dry on a normal setting. They are washing and wearing well for me. I love them! These are nice sheets and I was very excited about them at first. They're above-average thick and soft. The bottom sheet was a very tight fit on our Cal King Sleep Number bed, but it was doable. It's been about three weeks of use (alternating weeks with a different sheet set) and the bottom sheet has started to pill badly. We don't usually have a problem with sheets pilling, so I think it's a matter of cheaper fibers rather than something we're doing. I'm disappointed.I was a little hesitant to get this because I wasn't sure if the sheets would be too thin, like some other manufacturers. However, these sheets are great and well priced compared to brick and mortar stores! I just wish the other colors were priced the same, I'd buy more!Gave it four stars because it is sateen (only option available at the time) and it takes a while to wash to total smoothness. But the quality of the material is superior, and they fit nicely. Well finished too. A great buy.Upon receiving the Cal King Ivory package yesterday, we could not wait to wash it and put it on our Cal Kink bed. The only problem is that the corners on all four sides are over sized. These sheets are very thick yet soft. I like a thick sheet so I am very happy with these. They washed up nicely and no piling of material.I wouldn't let my dog sleep on these. They're going back tomorrow - I'm sorry I didn't read the reviews before buying. 800 thread count my butt. The CA king are not CA King. Maybe king size. They are rough, itchy and rough. Irritating - both the sheets and the fact I was taken for a ride.
